Arima Onsen Gekkoen Yugetsusanso

We arrived a bit late that night, but they were waiting for us. The Staff speak perfect English, so the communication was fluid and clear, and they made sure at all times that we felt at home. Our room was specially beautiful; they'd already prepared our futons for sleeping, since it was late, and they were incredibly comfortable. In the room, you'll find a lot of amenities, including yukatas to go to the baths and to sleep in, which are super comfy. Thanks to the wide opening hours of the baths, we still had time that night to take a super relaxing bath in two of the three onsens (and in the third early the next morning!). Every one of them is stunning, charming and super pleasant. We recommend you try all of them! (The outdoors one was our winner!) Also, the Hotel is nice and beautiful, and being built over the river, having to cross the bridge to go from one wing to the other, makes it extra charming! (specially at night). Its location is also super convenient, just a short walk from the centre of the village, but far enough to have privacy and tranquillity.

Although the communication in english was not that easy the hotel staff were very friendly and helpful overall especially Aiko who attended us at our arrival. The atmosphere of the hotel is pleasant and warm that makes you feel comfortable and relaxed. The hot tubs in open air, the food, the small souvenir shop in the lobby, the location of the hotel and the free shuttle service are all characteristics that make Arima Onsen Gekkoen Yugetsusanso uncomparable. I would recommend the hotel to friends who visit the neighbourhood. We used the free shuttle to visit the Mt. Rokko Arima Ropeway which is within a 4-minute drive from the hotel. That was after checking out of the hotel. Though they kept our luggage and drove us to and from the station. The Ropeway is also a must-to-do.

We stayed the last 2 days of our 16 day Japan tour in Arima Onsen, to relax. And it was perfect for relaxing. Very good hot spring option (Public and private), beautiful Ryokan style rooms. Good service. But, most importantly, we stayed with breakfast and dinner included. A very good choice; as the open buffet was excellent. The variety, the quality, the abundance (sashimi, steak, noodles, fish, desserts ... everything).

We booked the ryokan so our toddler can experience his 1st onsen & ryokan stay. We spotted some shops and eateries while driving to the property but didn't manage to explore the area as we were there only for a night. Free praking available at the property. The room is in a good size. Breakfast and dinner spreads were good, lots of varieties. A little lacking in taste for some of the food but still acceptable. Overall we quite enjoy our stay and our boy had fun doing onsen.

Cannot say enough good things about our stay here. The staff provided an impeccable service from the moment we arrived, we felt like VIPs the whole time we were there. The location is stunning, situated up the hill at the back of town, away from the bustle of the tourist streets, and spanning the river, which we had a gorgeous view of from our room. The room was cosy and spacious. The traditional onsen ryokan aesthetic greets you the moment you walk in the door. Special mention given for catering to our awkward dietary requirements with the included meals (seafood allergy and a vegetarian between us). Our special dinner inclusions were still fantastic despite this, and I didn't feel like I was missing out or getting a "consolation prize" meal. The breakfast buffet is also good, it leans heavily toward Japanese cuisine but there's enough there for fussy westerners like me. This is definitely a great place to stay if a traditional Japanese breakfast is not to your taste. There's a couple of different baths to choose from. I enjoyed the outdoor bath with rich iron content in the water. The temperature of the water was also perfect for me. I also noticed they had a sign saying there were private baths available for guests with tattoos, which seems like a bit of a rarity.
